WHAT IS YT-STUDIO?
YT-Studio is a native Windows application built around the yt-dlp engine. Instead of typing terminal commands, you paste a video or playlist link into a desktop app, choose a format, select useful options, and start the download.
It is designed for normal users who want a clear one-screen workflow and for power users who want queue, history, subtitles, metadata, cookies, proxy, and quality controls without memorizing command-line flags.
YT-Studio does not host videos. It helps you download from sources supported by yt-dlp using your own computer and your own connection.
WHAT CAN YOU USE IT FOR?
VIDEO DOWNLOADSSave videos in MP4, MKV, or WEBM with quality presets like best, 1080p, 720p, and 480p.
AUDIO EXTRACTIONDownload audio-only files such as MP3 or M4A for offline listening, podcasts, lectures, or music you are allowed to save.
PLAYLISTSAdd playlist links, control playlist mode, and manage multiple videos without repeating the same steps.
SUBTITLESDownload or embed subtitles when they are available, including language choices and auto-subtitle support.
ARCHIVINGKeep a local history of completed downloads so you can find previous files or avoid downloading the same item twice.
ENRICHED FILESEmbed thumbnails, metadata, and chapters so downloaded media is easier to organize in players and libraries.

CHOOSING FORMAT AND QUALITY
The format section controls the file type and media quality. For most users, Best or 1080p MP4 is the safest choice. MP4 works on most phones, TVs, browsers, and media players.
Recommended Choices
- Best: highest available quality.
- 1080p MP4: good quality and broad compatibility.
- 720p MP4: smaller files for everyday viewing.
- Audio MP3: best for audio players and podcasts.
- Audio M4A: good quality audio with efficient file size.
If a high-quality video needs separate audio and video streams, FFmpeg merges them automatically when available.
METADATA, THUMBNAILS, SUBTITLES, CHAPTERS
YT-Studio includes enrichment options that make files easier to browse later.
- Embed metadata: writes title, uploader, date, and other details into the file when supported.
- Embed thumbnail: adds cover art to supported media files.
- Subtitles: download English, Arabic, all subtitles, or turn subtitles off.
- Embed subtitles: place subtitle tracks inside the video container when supported.
- Split chapters: split long videos into chapter-based files when chapter data exists.
- SponsorBlock: mark or skip sponsor segments where community data is available.
QUEUE AND HISTORY
The Queue screen is useful when you have several links. Add items to the queue, keep one active download at a time, and avoid losing track of long batches.
The History screen stores completed downloads, file paths, formats, status, errors, and completion time. This helps you check what you already downloaded and quickly find previous files.
CONFIG AND SETTINGS
The Config screen contains set-once options for advanced users.
- Default output path: choose where downloads go by default.
- Cookies file or browser cookies: use when a site needs login access.
- Proxy: route downloads through a proxy when needed.
- Rate limit: slow downloads intentionally to protect bandwidth.
- Retry count: control how many times failed fragments are retried.
- FFmpeg path: configure or bundle FFmpeg for merging, audio conversion, thumbnails, and metadata.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Download does not start
Check your URL, internet connection, output folder permissions, and whether the website is supported by yt-dlp. Try pressing Fetch first to see whether metadata can be read.
High-quality video has no sound
Some sites provide audio and video separately. Make sure FFmpeg is available so YT-Studio can merge streams.
Private or age-restricted videos fail
Use cookies from your browser or a cookies file if you have permission to access the content.
Subtitles are missing
Subtitles must exist on the source site. Auto-generated subtitles may not be available for every language.
Invalid or unsupported URL
Not every website is supported. Update yt-dlp when possible, and use direct video page URLs instead of embedded players when available.
RESPONSIBLE USE
Use YT-Studio for content you own, content you have permission to download, public domain material, backups, personal offline viewing where allowed, education, research, and accessibility workflows.
Always respect copyright law, creator rights, and the terms of service of each platform. YT-Studio is a tool; the user is responsible for how it is used.
If you are unsure whether you can download something, ask the content owner or choose content with a clear download license.
